How to eat Vegan at Taco Bell®

Although it’s not as easy as vegetarian, eating vegan at Taco Bell® is fairly easy. Pick a wrap (or a Power Bowl), add some beans, rice and/or potatoes, throw on a pile of veggies, some guac and salsa, and olé, you’re done!

A lot of Mexican restaurants use lard (pig fat) when making refried beans. Taco Bell® does not. So no worries. Whew!

Bottom Line: Just avoid meat, cheese, and signature sauces and you should be good to go. No problemo.

What is the Vegan diet?

A vegan is a person who does not eat animal products of any kind – for moral, religious, or health reasons. Unlike vegetarians, vegans choose not to eat any dairy products or eggs.

There are three primary and extremely important reasons why a person becomes vegan.

  1. Health reasons: eating animals is associated with contracting the diseases that kill the most people every year – heart disease, cancer, diabetes, etc.
  2. Saving the earth: animal agriculture creates more greenhouse gases than all forms of transportation combined. It’s also responsible for massive rain forest destruction – clearing forests to make room for cows.
  3. Saving the animals: animals are sentient beings that want to live just like we do. Vegans find it reprehensible to kill animals just to taste their flesh.

What people get wrong:

Like most diets, vegans can avoid animal products and still eat lots of junk. A dairy-free candy bar and soda are vegan, but not so good for your health.

Some people think that eating animals is essential for modern human survival. It is not. Others think that we must consume animals to meet our protein requirements. This is also not true. All plants have protein, including fruit and vegetables.
